U.S. Construction Spending Down Slightly Again in August

The U.S. government is reporting that total construction spending in August, 2024 was at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $2,131.9 billion, which is 0.1% lower than July’s revised number.  However, August’s revised estimate is 4.1% higher than one year ago.  Residential construction came in at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $899.9 billion in August, which is 0.3% lower than July’s revised estimate.
