The Electoral College – Real Estate Investing Today

-

We recently posted a compare & contrast chart for the 2024 Presidential Race.  With that in mind, this Tuesday, November 5th is election day all across America.  Every four years on the first Tuesday, following the first Monday in November America chooses its next President (or reelects the current one).  However, as the folks over at Kids Discover point out, it is actually a little more complex than just casting a vote for your favorite man or woman to be the next leader of the free-world.

The U.S. constitution contains a mechanism called the Electoral College in which electors are chosen by voters from each state to cast a final vote on our behalf, after each states’ winners are decided.  Indeed, to the outside world this might seem like an outdated relic of the past or even an unnecessary process.  However, under our federal system it ensures that no one state dominates the process and preserves the checks-n-balances that our founders envisioned.  Stay safe, go vote, and have a safe and Happy Friday!!!

“In the U.S., the people don’t vote directly for the president and vice president. Instead, a system called the Electoral College is used. This system allows voters to vote for electors, who then cast their votes for candidates, a system described in Article II of the Constitution.”
